Stephen Degnan

Stephen has extensive experience of business taxes, having worked for ten years as a tax inspector with the Inland Revenue. 

In 1998 he was seconded to work for The Adjudicator, Dame Barbara Mills QC, investigating cases of government maladministration.  Stephen then joined the Revenue’s Pensions Simplification project as part of the team which designed and implemented the new tax regime for pension schemes which came into force in 2006.   

He left HMRC in 2006 to start his own pensions consultancy.

Alec Ure

Alec has over 30 years’ experience in all aspects of pensions. Having started his career at the Inland Revenue, Alec went on to hold senior positions at two of the major pensions firms, Bacon & Woodrow and then Gissings. Alec has extensive knowledge of legislation and practice across all types of pension schemes. He specialises in legal drafting for UK and international pension schemes.  Alec is an established author of books and articles on pensions.

John Hayward

John has over 30 years' professional experience in pensions work.  Having started his career with the Inland Revenue John then moved to the private sector, working at major pensions specialists EBS and Nabarro Nathanson.  John now works as a pensions consultant, writer and lecturer.  He specialises in self administered company pension schemes.
